Pawleys Island artist Mike Covington has been selected by the Kirby Gallery in Roxboro, NC to be the solo artist for the month of June 2012. This show will feature Mike’s “Art from the Low Country”. Mike’s home in Pawleys Island, SC, gives him very good access to the beaches, marshes and wildlife in the “Low Country” and is Mike is excited about this opportunity to show his work.
Mike loves the colors of the sunrises and sunsets in the Low Country areas of North and South Carolina. He is excited to be able to share these awesome photo opportunities along the rivers, beaches and back roads of the Carolinas. The beauty of our fragile environment is exemplified when one spends time outdoors ~~ watching the sights and listening to the sounds of nature. It is truly easier to appreciate and understand the importance of protecting these precious gifts for future generations.

Websites for the Non-Technical Artist

I am currently on the board of Seacoast Artist Guild of South Carolina and we currently have nearly 250 active artists. From my observations, most artists are not at all technical. That is not necessarily true all of the time, but appears to be true at least most of the time. Because most of our artists are non-technical, I have had a lot of requests for help with websites. This past summer, a friend told me about the websites for artists available using Fine Art America. I checked it out, liked what I saw and put a website together for myself. The name is www.lowcountryart.org and I have been pleased with the activity so far. I have sold several images and everything seems to be working very well. For just $30 a year, it's really a deal that's hard to beat.

With all of that being said, I put together a class for any artists that may be interested in very detailed step-by-step instructions on how to build your own website using the Fine Art America platform. My instructions include pages of notes explaining what is required each step of the way. I will also help you understand how to make sure your artwork images are of the quality required to make sales.

For comments from a few of the artists from the first class click here: http://www.lowcountryphotos.com/Events/Website-Design-Class/

If you think you may be interested or if there are suggestions on things you think should be included in this class, please go to: http://www.mike-covington.com/training_request.htm

Thanks,
